We've started 2023 with a bang at one of our favourite engagements of the year... the Newark Twinning Association's Last Night of the Proms at the beautiful Palace Theatre in the heart of Newark.
This year was a particularly special event, as Rita Crowe (Chairman of the Newark Twinning Association, and President of Newark & Sherwood Concert Band) was presented with the Badge of Honour of the town of Emmendingen, Newark's German twin town. The band opened with the National Anthem of Great Britain, and National Anthem of Germany, accompanied by fanfare trumpets kindly loaned by The Band and Corps of Drums of Lincolnshire ACF.
As in the usual way, the band performed a selection of music from the worlds of stage and screen, pop and classical, before finishing with the traditional last night of the proms finale in fancy dress with confetti canons, balloons and joyous singing!
